If you’re perplexed about what you need to wear to a wedding, you’ll join lots of other people that just don’t know what outfit to wear when invited to this special occasion. In today’s clothes culture it is confusing when comparing it to the early 20th century. There were certain guidelines about what made an event formal, informal or semi formal. Check out a few tips about dressing for the occasion of a wedding. A nice tip of the day is that when you receive your invitation for the wedding, look at the where it’s being held, the time it’s to occur and if a dress code is required by the bride and her family. Semi formal attire for men is not usually stated, but implied. If you’ve got an invitation, you’ll usually know the bride or groom very well, and know if their celebration is semi formal. There are a lot of different types of weddings that might require you to dress in something other than a tuxedo. It probably won’t surprise you to learn that a lot of brides are opting out of large formal weddings, and leaning toward their own stylized celebration that includes semi formal attire. One example is a beach wedding which is popular, and if you wear a long sheath floral dress, you’ll be dressed in a semi formal way for the occasion. You’ll fit right in with the occasion. On the other hand, if you’ve been invited to a wedding that’s after 6 PM, and held in a nice hotel or home, you’ll find that a semi formal attitude of dress is likely the style. A stylish little black dress with dressy shoes and jewelry would complement the celebration. Men usually find that a dress suit is appropriate at this type of semi formal gathering too. Weddings of a formal dress are certainly different and this is usually noted. On the invitations will be the words black tie required. This means it’s a high class affair, and you should dress appropriately. For men, a dinner jacket with a cummerbund and formal shirt might work, or a full fledged tuxedo should be worn. Women need either a full formal gown, or if it’s a chic crowd a classy dress, with nice jewelry is the option. Don’t attend a formal occasion in a semi formal. Outside of weddings the way you dress still has some basic guidelines for everyday life. A lot of it has to do with common sense though. If you’re going on a job interview wear clothing that’s not too bright, or exposes a lot skin. If you attend a funeral clothing should be a darker shade, and very dignified out of respect for family members. Remember, you can always be semi formal, but yet still be classy for any occasion. If you’re unsure about how to dress, you can always just ask the opinion of someone you trust.
